The Coconut palm is really a beautiful palm tree and also really gets coconuts. But it requires the necessary knowledge and is very pricey because it has to be imported and made accustomed to the Dutch number of light hours in a subtropical greenhouse.
There are a few requirements that must be met if you want to keep this palm, such as: that the temperature should not fall below 15 degrees (room temperature). It should get enough light in a sunny spot.
Origin: there is still much uncertainty about its exact origin. Fossil finds have been made both in India and South America. It is found in all tropical regions of the Pacific Ocean, where it was spread both by humans and naturally. Indeed, coconuts can float great distances.
Leaf shape: feather-shaped and up to 6 meters long. The old leaf falls off by itself. The Coconut is the seed of the Coconut palm.

How to grow a Cocos palm indoors?
We recommend never placing a Coconut palm in the garden in the Netherlands, at most in a pot that you can move. This is because the palm does not tolerate temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Indoors this palm needs a lot of light, so make sure you get the best location for sunlight. It thrives best in a heated greenhouse. Also, this palm wants good Mediterranean soil and supplemental nutrition. This is because it is a fast grower.
Our plant sizes are determined by measuring the smallest plants up until the largest in a field with hundreds of plants. Because a plant is a natural product, it's possible a plant is a little smaller than the mentioned minimum size.
This deviation is 10cm maximum. In our guidelines we keep a margin of max. 10cm regarding the minimum size.
Note: when you order a plant that doesn't stay green in the winter, it's probably (when ordered during the winter months or the beginning spring season) smaller than the minimum size. This is not a problem in any case, because the plant will grow new branches or leaves and the minimum height will be reached within a short period.
