Note, important!
It is important that the roots are not in the water, so give small amounts of water instead of large amounts at once.

We always recommend to immediately repot a purchased plant into a larger sized pot, because the pots sold are usually completely rooted. It allows the plant to root more, grow more and it's better for keeping the soil moist.

Most often the plant is around the minimum size. The height of the plant is always incl. pot height. Its actual height depends on the various sources of supply and how long the plant has been staying and growing in our stock environment.

Let your plant shine

A plant with a nice pot enhances the atmosphere much more and becomes more beautiful than without one. Of course the pot should match the plant and location. The recommended diameter of a pot for this is 43 - 70 cm. This is not only an eye-pleasing proportion, but also makes caring for the plant more easy.

Plants Encyclopedia

All interesting and necessary information about the Ficus microcarpa 'Nitida' is found in our encyclopedia

Pay attention

It is important that the roots are not in the water, so give small amounts of water instead of large amounts at once.

Watering

This plant needs to be watered regularly. It is important that the roots are not in the water, so give small amounts of water instead of large amounts at once.

Placement

Place the houseplant in a sunny spot. Be careful with direct sunlight, especially in summer. Also, the ficus should not be in draught. Temperatures below 15 degrees are not good for this houseplant. The 'Nitida' likes a slightly moist soil.

Nutrition

Ficus does not need a lot of nourishment. After purchase, Ficus can be left without nourishment for months. Give nourishment only in spring or summer. Never give too much this can lead to burning of the roots.

Cutting

Ficus Nitida is a relatively fast grower and is best pruned every autumn. The advantage of this is that the plant receives more light, stays more compact and you don't get long shoots. DeFicus Nitida is a weird duck in the bite. This houseplant is best pruned in late spring (May-June). The reason for this is that the Nitida needs more strength to branch out. Ficus Nitida will branch "at every branch where it has been pruned". This will give you a nice full room or office plant. Use pruning shears and cover the wounds with cigarette ash to stop the bleeding of the houseplant.

Our plant sizes are determined by measuring the smallest plants up until the largest in a field with hundreds of plants. Because a plant is a natural product, it's possible a plant is a little smaller than the mentioned minimum size.

This deviation is 10cm maximum. In our guidelines we keep a margin of max. 10cm regarding the minimum size.

Note: when you order a plant that doesn't stay green in the winter, it's probably (when ordered during the winter months or the beginning spring season) smaller than the minimum size. This is not a problem in any case, because the plant will grow new branches or leaves and the minimum height will be reached within a short period. Your order will have the right size within a short time.

Special transport is required for larger/heavier plants or objects. This transport costs 29,95 (free for orders above 300). The benefit of this transport is that more products can be selected without getting additional transport costs. The delivery time of this transport type usually is within 1 workday. Howiever, it can take 1 or more days in some cases. If you're not at home when the driver arrives, the order will be placed in front of your door.
