The Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera' - Dwarf Palm Silver

Very exclusive ornamental palm because of its blue-silver leaves. Hardy to -13C, so highly recommended for the garden. Easy in maintenance.

This small, evergreen fan palm, the Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera', is very conspicuous because of its compact leaf growth.

'Cerifera' means 'covered with wax'. It looks a lot like the Chamaerops humilis, but the Cerifera has a slightly grayer leaf color and smaller leaves.

This species is just as hardy as the common Chamaerops humilis.

Generally, these palms do not grow much taller than 2.5 - 3 meters in our climate. Also, the Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera' grows more slowly than the common Chamaerops humilis.

The leaf stalks of this palm have spines.

They grow clustered from the underside of the main trunk. This is why this Dwarf Palm grows very nicely full and compact. Because of its somewhat slow growth and the fact that these palm trees do not grow very large, it is also an ideal tub plant.

This type of palm is a real asset on the terrace or in the garden. It can withstand heat and is drought tolerant.

Finally, it is hardy to -10C!
