This small fan palm, the Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera' stands out because of its compact leaf growth.
Cerifera' means 'covered with wax'. It looks a lot like the Chamaerops humilis, but the Cerifera has a slightly grayer leaf colour and smaller leaves.
This species is as hardy as the common Chamaerops humilis.
In general, these palms do not grow much taller than 2.5 - 3 meters in our climate. Also, the Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera' grows slower than the common Chamaerops humilis.
On the petioles of this palm are spines.
They grow in clusters from the underside of the main trunk, which makes this Dwarf Palm also very full and compact. Partly due to its somewhat slow growth and because these palm trees do not grow very large, it is also an ideal tub plant.
This type of palm is a real asset for the terrace or a place in the garden. It can withstand heat well and is drought tolerant.
