It is very rare in the Netherlands, but that is why it is so unique. It has beautiful fern-like leaves that close at night. But that's not all. Once it starts flowering you will be amazed. In fact, it produces beautiful white pink flowers. These flowers appear at the end of June and last until October.
It likes a sunny sheltered place, but could also be placed in semi-shade.
The large specimens are hardy to -20 degrees and are grown outdoors with us. This allows them to survive even better in our climate.
We do recommend that you protect young plants well.
The Persian sleeping tree is an easy plant to care for because it does not necessarily need to be pruned. As soon as you want to do this, we recommend you do it in March.
It also likes a light humidification.
Its growth rate is fairly fast and it can grow up to 6 meters tall.

The Albizia julibrissin is hardy, but it does lose its leaves in the winter. Then it becomes a bare branch mess. However, the leaves just grow back again in the spring.

A dormant tree likes good nutrient soil. For example, you can pamper the root ball with a bag of Florentus Mediterranean Nutrient Soil, specially developed for Mediterranean plants such as the Persian dormitory tree.
Why does an Albizia julibrissin get yellow leaves?
It may be that the dormant tree is not getting enough water during the growing season, or too much water e.g. in autumn, but it is also a natural thing that leaves become dry. Some leaves have simply reached their age and then die off. The leaves can be removed with scissors, or by hand.
Are Albizias toxic to cats or dogs ?
.The Persian sleeping tree is not poisonous, so it can be placed perfectly well in an environment with cats or dogs.
Our plant sizes are determined by measuring the smallest plants up until the largest in a field with hundreds of plants. Because a plant is a natural product, it's possible a plant is a little smaller than the mentioned minimum size.
This deviation is 10cm maximum. In our guidelines we keep a margin of max. 10cm regarding the minimum size.
Note: when you order a plant that doesn't stay green in the winter, it's probably (when ordered during the winter months or the beginning spring season) smaller than the minimum size. This is not a problem in any case, because the plant will grow new branches or leaves and the minimum height will be reached within a short period. Your order will have the right size within a short time.
